THOUGHTS OF MY JEANNETTE

Jeannette was a princess.  As a child, she dreamed fairytales.  Her bright pink room and love of all things "princess" made her family chuckle, but it was so Jeannette.  She was her grama's princess, her mommy's princess, everyone's princess.

When her aunt bought her a wedding dress when she was 8 for a Halloween costume, she couldn't wait to get into it.  She bobbed for apples in that princess dress on a street called Emerson at a neighbor's party.  If she could have, she probably would have tended to the household chores in that dress.

But Jeannette was so much more.

"Jeannette believed in everybody, and she always believed she could change your life," says her sister, Diana.  "Everyone who met her was changed by her.

Her naturally thick dark black hair was usually kept long and straight.  It was her big brown eyes and that smile that was bigger than life.  Photographs of Jeannette portray a spirited youngster, with brilliant smile and keen outlook.  She wasn't the least bit camera-shy.  There was nothing Jeannette couldn't do.

On this beautiful Friday morning in Fresno, California thoughts of my Jeannette as a little girl are with me.  She certainly was my princess.  Always.
